Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro

I have officially become Hayao Miyazaki addict!! I don’t see any reason how can someone come across his anime and keep on living a simple life what-so-ever! the first time i came across his creation was when i saw clips of Spirited Away, 2001 film (winner, Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, 2002) in animatrix (Chihiro cleaning the river spirit). I didn’t know it was a movie! I searched around for its name but was mistook it as a series..

In Germany, I was again told about him and unaware of his previous encounter with me it again slipped my mind. Lastly I was again introduced to him by Cecilia’s blog in her ‘feel good’ movie list. Than I saw “My Neighbor Totoro”-cry and ‘miss home’ type good!!, 1988 film. I saw it 4 times already. Very shortly followed by “Princess Mononoke”-was a bit dark, 1997 film, “Howl’s Moving Castle”- magical!!, 2004 (nominee, Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, 2005).

Than it was “Laputa: Castle in the Sky”, 1986 film, “Kiki’s Delivery Service”, 1989 film, “Porco Rosso”, 1992 film and recently “The Castle of Cagliostro (Lupin III)”, 1979 film.

Ok that was brief introduction to him. Now the reaction part.  Awesome!

Movies like these makes me hate James Bond movie. I mean why would people want to see James bond if they can have so much color, so much fun in the anime? Why I like his movies? Because it totally portraits a normal life, simple, sometime miserable, brutal boring life and than brings a tint of magic in that life. This gives hope.. I love this part, but it never distorts the truth, it never promises a “happily ever after” and thats what I adore. A thief can never stay with a princess; thats truth, but he can rescue her from evil villain. If he stayed with her, it would have been a nice fairy tale, but Hayao Miyazaki doesn’t do complete fairytale.

I hereby promote all movies by him!! =D ( ok I should stop now or else people may think I am on drugs!)
