bee in my bonnet

I’m your only friend,
I’m not your only friend
But I’m a little glowing friend
But really I’m not actually your friend
But I am..

My mom always told me I was very selfish because I never liked sharing anything with my brother. He have been my competition and I am not a good-sport. On several occasion we fought like Tom sawyer and Huckleberry finn, but more brutally. Back at that time, it didn’t seem so nostalgic-coolish as it sounds now.

Initially mom-dad took time out to explain why I shouldn’t beat up Shohag if for example, he took my sharpener or why he wouldn’t be punished if he scribbled in my song diary. On later phase it was different procedure cause they started to really ‘judge’ the case and even if I claimed my position, they still seemed biased. So we moved in to the more technical world of Law practice where witnesses were summoned to verify the incidence. Soon I realized, these too can be devised to be biased.

So, it was all about building up goodwill among my handful family members, who were Choto Dadu(granny – Dad’s mom), Moni kakku(uncle – Dad’s bro), Ziaul bhaiya (Cousin – Dad’s Sister’s first son), Hafizur bhai(Cousin – Dad’s Sister’s second son), Shonchu apu(Cousin – Dad’s Elder bro’s daughter), Mejho Dadu(granny – Dad’s aunt), Bua (mom’s assistent in Clinic) , Maiyo(bua’s son), Budra(bua’s husband), Kakoli(sister-1 who helped with house work), Parvin(sister2)..

Everyone’s witness counted for something, so everyone in my network had to stay happy and report good to mom-dad for me. Sometime they would even give extra point to me, thanks to me being extra nice. Ever since, I guess I have developed the practice of keeping myself in the center of the universe and add each new person to that system.

For those people who are part of my universe, I may not be a part of their universe.. but I don’t really care (well.. probably I do – but let me wear my tortoise suit for time being). What is important to me is that they are part of mine and if Pluto was a part of my solar system, I would have never ever thrown it out of my universe.

I have no clue why I added this para of lyrics from ‘they might be giants – Birdhouse in your Soul’ .. probably because it has very catchy tune! Also it was interesting cause, the singer screams at the word ‘who’ so loud that it sounds like he is asking a question. But the lyric says : “Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch, who watches over you”..

crazy dream (nightmarish)

So there were guests who came to visit this nice ruins. I took the guest to this place. On the gate, there was this stupid gatekeeper who started to take my eye-examination ( aren’t they only supposed to do security check?) Of course I failed to read what was written in the small yellow card cause I don’t read Malay (how did I know it was Malay? It could have been a Telegu letter!) Well anyway, not dishearten by the temporary upset, I’ve decided to sneak in. From here onwards it was only me.. I guess the guest got in regular way.

So there was police chasing me and my hubby came to rescue me (from where did he come from?), we were running around this brown-red, ancient building. Soon I had a rubber boa that would slightly float in air. I jumped up and reached the top of the building and the people couldn’t catch me cause there was no stairs (I couldn’t find him anymore).

These were all making me ‘want to wake up’..  Soon I noticed something else.. something was there in the sky. Well, there was nothing wrong about the obvious appearance of the sky, like not dark, or extra bright – it was normal evening light ( but in my head) I felt that if I look at the sky; something bad would happen. I looked up there anyway and I woke up in my small dark room – trembling. Time 4:10 am.

There was nothing that should scare me.. it sounds a bit funny but why did I feel it was like a nightmare?

shortcut buttons

Did you ever wonder about the key that has windows logo in it? It pulls up start menu. Did you know if you press it with m (WIN+m), you could minimize all the open windows from the view? I sometime do that, randomly – it gives me a break from staring at the radiant windows.

I am (almost hyper) Myopic (L -5.76, R -6.00). The upside of this is – sometime when I open my glasses, I can immediately isolate myself, almost like pressing WIN+m, minimizing all that are in front of me to a blurry, opaque wallpaper of world.

I am subtle control-freak, I like having control over what happens around me. But I really wish to let go of things and not worry about how would world go around without my existence. Each existence is so insignificant! Damn! these blogs are really getting grey. I should start writing something cheerful!

On second thought! I’ll pass.. enjoy the grey post!

I was rinsing a pack of grapes and I thought of my small trip to University of Hohenheim located in Plieningen Garbe. We all walked though the elaborately decorated botanical garden and climbed up the small hill to find a exhilarating view of the garden and surrounding place. The small architecture seemed like a broken temple, or king’s seat! My companions (all male) started to describe what would have been nice to have here.. ‘it would have been nice to have some cold beer’. Soon they started to portrait comfortable seats, beautiful woman waving leaves to fan and feeding grapes.. it was hilarious how their unindented imagination somehow resembled excerpts from Indiana Jones’s scene.

On a separate note: Tried out listening to Björk, a Scandinavian singer, but probably I shouldn’t have started with “violently happy“. “I’m a hunter” or “Venus as a boy” would have been a better start. It was interesting experience, I don’t know what caught me, her eccentric ways of moving her face in the video or the creepiness in the song lyrics! Regarding videos, does she take part in planning it? For each of them seemed made by different director but each contained this ‘hint of mint’ in it..Hmm.. too early to pass judgment.

Vista, Office 2007 and Acrobat

Well, when you have a range of familiar software acting absolutely different because of new GUI, you would feel like ripping your hairs off too! Caught up in the search of finding the small button that helps me convert PDF from word, I discovered, Word 2007 has a small plug-in that you would have to install in order to save the PDF file straight from word to PDF!

Nice hah?

Trivia: When you have the option than do not print using the distiller (that printing icon that appears in the printer drop down), its bad for PDF health! :D read more

Boats to freedom –

Recall the post I made about flood? Its really interesting that someone is also working on something similar!

“The boats operate year-round and offer a full primary school education with the same syllabus as classrooms on dry land. They avoid dangerous weather patterns by sticking close to mapped-out routes, typically along more shallow waters near the communities they serve.

The schools serve about 90,000 families in an area covering more than 300 miles, and make three- to four-hour stops six days a week.

“I love the boat so much more than regular school,” Mohamed said, swinging his thin legs as he sat on a bench reading a stack of stories. “It’s so fun when it comes to your doorstep.”

The school boats have also made it easier for girls to attend classes. Before, their parents were reluctant to let them walk long distances to school; now the schools come to them.

Rezwan said he hopes his floating village idea will catch on. He is working on sanitation issues and already trying to develop floating gardens, similar to those in Kashmir. Farmers there found they could build an earth bed of roots and dirt in a lake — thus enjoying constant irrigation — and produce huge harvests of vegetables.”
